SET Ceramics are introducing something a little different to the ceramics programme. Building Bigger is the new intermediate hand building course with artist Francisco Zhan, for artists & makers looking to take their ceramics beyond the scale of standard tableware and push their ideas a little further.

Over the 5-week course, you’ll explore slab construction, block carving and large-scale coiling, learning how to approach bigger forms with structure and stability in mind. You’ll develop your own project, working with Francisco to choose and improve the techniques that best suit your ideas, and getting plenty of individual guidance as your work takes shape.

Work can be functional, decorative, or both. You’ll finish the course with a glazed ceramic piece up to 35 x 40 x 40cm, plus a small glaze test.
