Whether you’re completely new to clay or looking to build confidence, this 8-week course shows you how simple shapes can be transformed into standout, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Led by artist Francisco Zhan, you’ll build a solid foundation in core handbuilding methods, including pinching, coiling, slab building, and traditional Japanese kurinuki block carving. As your forms take shape, you’ll experiment with playful surface decoration techniques including marbling, wax resists, inlay, and layered glazes. By learning how subtle tweaks to texture and silhouette completely transform an object, you’ll gain both the technical skill and the confidence to realise your own design ideas in ways that go far beyond the ordinary.
