This spring, the Eastern City BID showcased its ambition to continue building a dynamic and engaging community by unveiling Hypha x Eastern City Studios — a new cultural hub at 130 Fenchurch Street, whilst also launching its exclusive INSIDERS programme with a headline In Conversation event featuring Louis Theroux, hosted by Adam Buxton at Horizon 22.

Eastern City BID Launches Hypha x Eastern City Studios

On 9 April, Eastern City BID opened Hypha x Eastern City Studios, a gallery and events space at 130 Fenchurch Street. The once-vacant unit has been reactivated and transformed through a partnership with Aviva Investors and CO-RE, alongside specialist charitable partner Hypha Studios to create a new destination for workers, visitors, and the wider community.

The inaugural exhibition, (UN)SEEN, curated by Zoë Goetzmann, features work from 21 contemporary artists and explores the boundary between what is visible and what remains hidden through painting, sculpture, and installation.  As one guest, arts & culture influencer @lesserknownlondonn noted: “[This] cosy cultural hub connect[s] emerging artists with the local community. [It’s] such a welcoming and inclusive space. If you’re in search of community, this is the place to go.”

Hypha x Eastern City Studios is now home to a year‑round programme designed to keep the space fresh, inclusive and full of energy. Expect new exhibitions every seven weeks, alongside a dynamic calendar of events spanning culture, music, family activities, sport and the environment. The next activation will be a week-long clothes swap and repair station in partnership with Verte from 19 – 23 May. This swap invites you to refresh your wardrobe sustainably while discovering new ways to care for, customise, and fall back in love with your clothes. Alongside the swap, Eastern City BID will host a curated programme of complimentary, hands-on workshops designed to inspire creativity, extend the life of your garments, and redefine your personal style.

Last week, Eastern City BID launched INSIDERS – a members-only programme exclusively for its levy paying community with an unforgettable evening: In Conversation with Louis Theroux, hosted by Adam Buxton.

More than 200 guests gathered at Horizon 22 for an inspiring and wide‑ranging conversation reflecting on Louis’ extraordinary career. The discussion traced his journey from early documentary work to his latest projects, uncovering the stories, challenges and unexpected moments that have shaped his approach along the way. Guided by Adam Buxton’s trademark wit and warmth, the evening was both insightful and entertaining – making it a truly memorable night for everyone in attendance.
