This workshop will run on the 18th August, 10am – 2pm, and is suitable for young people and families (booking available soon!).

Make With Mermaid will be running 4 crafting workshops. Seah is a passionate creative facilitator dedicated to making the arts accessible for all through free or low cost workshops, she aims to bridge the gaps in creative outreach. With extensive experience in engaging hard-to-reach individuals, Seah has successfully collaborated with those in the criminal justice system, young people, and families across underfunded boroughs of London.

On 19th August, learn the fundamentals of painting a masterpiece, but with coffee! In the Carefree Coffee Painting workshop, participants will explore tone, texture and layering using an accessible ingredient you can find in your own cupboard. On 20th August, unlock the art of paperfolding in this exciting Origami workshop, where you’ll delve into creating intricate origami pieces to create stunning decorations, tailored for special occasions. Storytelling
Laura Sampson is a British-Caribbean storyteller and writer, based in London. She tells stories of surreal situations and big emotions from all over the world, previously working with leading storytelling organisations the Crick Crack Club, StoryJam (UK), and Sagapo Teatro (Italy), along with the V&A, Discover Children’s Story Centre, and Polka Theatre for children’s storytelling.

For older listeners, we have a special performance of Yamanba (Or She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain) on Tuesday 26th August, 7.30pm. Demon, witch, or perhaps forgotten goddess: Sampson weaves Japanese myths, legends, and parables of the mysterious. Laura’s unique storytelling style incorporates elements of noh (a medieval Japanese theatre form).

For kids and their adults, Sampson brings you Deadtown!  on Thursday 28th August, 2.30pm – a funny, mildly spooky, rhythm-filled romp through a West African and Caribbean folktale-inspired underworld. Prepare to go down in the forest where nobody goes, a dark path leads down to … nobody knows! Talking skulls, hungry drums, magic spiderwebs, are you brave enough to come down to Deadtown?

Theatre
Dive into the cozy nostalgia of Camp Sycamore for games, crafts, and a wilderness walk with 60 Minute Summer Camp by Arlo Howard & Ella Raymont, on Thursday 21st August. This interactive experience is designed for grownups who could use a little summer camp in their life. Arlo and Ella have previously created and worked on immersive productions for Punchdrunk, Dropout, the Golden Scribe and the Peter Pan Project (Broadway Asia). Come join Camp Sycamore to make new friends, reconnect to the world around us, and spread the joy of camp. It’s camp time!

A bear, an astronaut, three flowers, an orange tree; Naran Ja by logica picnic, on Friday 29th August 7:30pm, is a playful and absurdist piece of visual theatre and puppetry which takes audiences through a fable-like series of deaths and transformations. Naran Ja examines our relation to the non-human world, challenging the hierarchies we tragically uphold to try to make sense of the world. It is a reflection on failure and hope, and what it means to be alive in an era haunted by the mass extinction of species. Naran Ja’s set, built out of found objects, is as active in creating meaning as the performers which inhabit it.

Ticket prices vary from Free, Pay What You Can and maximum £15.
