London Festival of Architecture 2026 ‘City Views: Leaving a Mark’

The Eastern City BID is delighted to be taking part in the London Festival of Architecture 2026 with a new programme inspired by its City Views installation and this year’s festival theme, Belonging.

Building on the success of the Eastern City’s City Views installation, the programme invites workers, visitors and local communities to explore how people connect with the City and the places that leave a lasting impression on them. Inspired by the idea of “leaving a mark”, the programme will celebrate the architecture, public spaces and shared experiences that shape the Eastern City.

At the centre of the programme will be a free self-guided walking trail, available via a printed and digital pamphlet, guiding audiences through the Eastern City’s City Views installations, iconic viewing galleries and landmark buildings that have helped define the City skyline. The trail will encourage visitors to discover new perspectives across the area while reflecting on the stories, architecture and spaces that contribute to the identity of the City today.

A series of free public drop-in creative workshops will also take place across the Eastern City, inviting visitors to take part in hands-on “mark making” activities inspired by the festival theme. Workshops will be hosted at 22 Bishopsgate, 120 Fenchurch Street and 20 Fenchurch Street, with further details to be announced soon.

Alongside the programme, an immersive audio-visual experience will take place at Hypha x Eastern City Studios within a room in a space at 130 Fenchurch running alongside their second exhibition HARDCORE SOFTWARE by the eponymous collective in collaboration with Hypha Studios.

Presented across the Hypha Studios exhibition space the exhibition explores embodiment, technology and human connection across physical and digital environments. Moving between the tender and the visceral, the work considers how people experience space, interaction and belonging in an increasingly mediated world.
