Free Suicide Prevention & Awareness Training for Eastern City Businesses
One in five people have suicidal thoughts, one in 14 people self-harm and one in 15 people attempt suicide. Making sure that those who need support are able to access it in a timely manner is crucial to being able to manage common mental health issues effectively and before they become more severe.
With thousands of workers travelling in and out of the City each day, they can act as “eyes and ears” and are likely to be first responders when it comes to spotting and assisting someone who is in crisis. We have therefore arranged free online awareness sessions, delivered by Samaritans and the City’s Suicide Prevention Lead, to provide the public with the tools to start difficult conversations in a careful and sensitive way.
Details of the sessions are below and if you would like to register please email (using your company email address as a means of verification) henry@easterncity.co.uk with your name, organisation and job title.

This initiative is part of the Eastern City BID’s wider drive to support vulnerable people and prevent suicide. We also fund a team of cycle medics that deploy in the area every week, recently launched the City Safe Bus at Liverpool Street Station and support the Bridge Watch charity with an annual donation. If you would like information about how you can support the latter – whether through donations or volunteer time – please contact bridgewatch@ascensiontrust.org.uk
